Colca Canyon
Colca Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world, reaching depths of over 3,270 meters (10,725 feet). It is located about 160 kilometers (100 miles) northwest of Arequipa.
The canyon is known for its dramatic landscapes, with terraced agriculture, steep cliffs, and the Colca River running through it. The region is characterized by a mix of arid and verdant areas, depending on altitude and location.

Other volcanoes
- Chachani is another prominent volcano near Arequipa, with an elevation of about 6,057 meters (19,872 feet). It is less steep than Misti and is considered one of the easier 6,000-meter peaks to climb.
- Pichu Pichu is a volcanic complex with multiple summits, the highest reaching around 5,669 meters (18,599 feet). It offers less technical but still challenging climbing routes.
- Ampato, standing at 6,288 meters (20,630 feet), is famous for the discovery of the frozen Inca mummy Juanita, the “Ice Maiden.” The volcano is located northwest of Arequipa and is part of the volcanic chain in southern Peru.
